If you are interested in a baby chipmunk or have any other questions concerning chipmunks please feel free to leave a comment or to e mail me, julian.patti.tucker@gmail.com It is essential that you aquire appropriate housing for your chipmunk before adoption. Chipmunks need a large cage or an aviary so that they can run, climb and jump. They also need their own nesting box to sleep in and feel safe. If you have any further questions about housing... just ask :o)
You can find detailed pictures at the bottom of my blog that show how to determine the sex of your chipmunk(s)

Does this look like an O.K. cage for chipmunks?
Or this:

Let me know what you think.
thanks
I would go with the second one... only because it would be easier to clean and move... both are fine
Thanks for your view, would you say this or the cage you recommend would be better to get?
By the way I think your chipmunks are soooooooooooooooooooooooo sweet
it is up to you really... you know how your home is set up and what would go best... I like mine... I took out the wooden platforms and just put in perches and nest boxes... they urinate on the wood and it began to smell is why I took them out. you can put in branches from a fruit tree too...they like that a lot... and it won't poison them if they chew it. it is much easier to get a cage with castors on it...so you can roll it where you want.
Thanks, I heard from somewhere that chipmunk are very clean and have a special "toilet" place, but this is said about lots of animals and isn't true about them, but what about chipmunks?
By the way do you think you're chipmunks will be giving birth again this spring?
they usually find a "toilet" place... they are clean. I have no idea when they will have another litter... it is up to them.
Lol. Good to know, how many times a year do they usually breed?
How many times a day do you need to feed them
I keep their food bowl supplied with food at all times with chipmunk muesli and feed them fresh veg, fruit and meal worms on the side
i found a baby chipmunk. His leg has been hurt. He ( maybe she can't tell) can still walk and jump a little. what can i do? Right now hes in a cage.
hard to say what to do... if it is broken then you need to take it to a wild life specialist... but if it is a cut you can try to clean it up and put wound powder on it ... I get it from the pet store. Is it a baby or an adult?
