If you are interested in a baby chipmunk or have any other questions concerning chipmunks please feel free to leave a comment or to e mail me, julian.patti.tucker@gmail.com It is essential that you aquire appropriate housing for your chipmunk before adoption. Chipmunks need a large cage or an aviary so that they can run, climb and jump. They also need their own nesting box to sleep in and feel safe. If you have any further questions about housing... just ask :o)

You can find detailed pictures at the bottom of my blog that show how to determine the sex of your chipmunk(s)

Baby News

Chai had her first litter but it didn't go so well. She ended up with only one live baby out of three... I was a little sad at first but it was her first litter and she had no idea what to do with them.

Sage is also expecting... I would guess that her babies will arrive in a week to two weeks. She is much more like her mum so I expect that she will do better with her first litter.... fingers crossed!

I think Chai's baby is a boy... from the glimpse I got of it... he will be ready to go in about 7 to 8 weeks if it all goes well.

I will post pics when I can get a chance to take some.

Babies will be £40 each and we can deliver if the drive isn't too far from Bristol for a small fee to cover traveling costs.

Is 25mm to big bar spacing on a chipmunk cage?

Madwag said...

yes...they will most certainly escape... you need narrow spacing like a hamster/rat cage...

Thanks, is 1.3 about good?

Anonymous said...

Will you have any for sale in august?

Madwag said...

1.3 sounds good... :D

I have no idea if I will have any in August... will just have to see what they do... ;o)

Cool, but do they usually breed around then (or do they just breed whenever ;) )

Hi
Will you hand tame your babies?

Madwag said...

Yep... all my babies will be tame... chipmunks are not typically cuddly... only one of mine is (by her choice) but I tame them so they won't bite and will come to you to be fed etc... :o)

Thank you

So you'd say chipmunks make great pets?

What's the best thing about them?

Anonymous said...

Also, could we collect from you if we bought one or two?
Thanks

it depends if you like chipmunks... they aren't cuddly and are pretty energetic... but I enjoy them very much... just like any type of pet... it depends on what you like... so yes...they make perfects pets for me anyway. The best thing about them... everything! I am just crazy about them. Yes... you can collect them when they are ready to go. I already have most of my current babies promised to people... I still don't have an exact count of babies yet and how many are boys and how many girls... Sage just had her babies two days ago and I don't want to upset her by poking around in her nest... I will in a week or so when she isn't so freaked out.

The boy from Chai is already promised...

When will the babies be ready?

Anonymous said...

I love chipmunks and I really want to get some, I won't be able to until the summer unfortunately!

Wow, It's great to see a breeder so devoted to what they do. Good for you!
It's hard not to love chipmunks!

Madwag said...

the babies will be ready in about 8 weeks... takes a month before they leave the nest for the first time and another month for them to learn to be proper chipmunks...lol...
I would seem to think that they will continue to breed and have a few litters a year... I am not sure if I am going to breed Chai again since she freaked out so much her first litter and ate two of them... egads!!!... she is good with the one she let live **rolling my eyes** Sage is a brill mum and her babies (from what I have seen) are fat and healthy!.. she takes good care of them so far. I will always post new litter info when I have it... I have a feeling that there will be another litter this summer.

Thanks. Do you have any girls left?

Do you have to be home during the day to keep chipmunks?

I can't wait till more lil' squeakers arrive!
