If you are interested in a baby chipmunk or have any other questions concerning chipmunks please feel free to leave a comment or to e mail me, julian.patti.tucker@gmail.com It is essential that you aquire appropriate housing for your chipmunk before adoption. Chipmunks need a large cage or an aviary so that they can run, climb and jump. They also need their own nesting box to sleep in and feel safe. If you have any further questions about housing... just ask :o)

You can find detailed pictures at the bottom of my blog that show how to determine the sex of your chipmunk(s)

Bummer

Two babies died... from what I can tell it looks like they couldn't get milk... their little tumm tumms were empty :0(

Fingers crossed that my other female chippy is going to have a litter in a couple of weeks... fingers crossed!

I'm going to ask a naive question - why doe someone breed and sell Chipmunks? Are they pets? I always thought they were wild animals kinda things. Am I wrong?

Hi LJ.... not a naive question at all. Here in England they are not found in the wild and are indeed pets. The ones here are Siberian chipmunks which are not the same as the ones in the USA etc... actually there are several different types of chipmunks.
I didn't even know that you could have them as pets until I moved here 8 years ago. Back home in Arizona we had wild ones and they were one of my favourite animals... my friend had one as a pet because her cat brought it in as a baby.... so she saved it and nursed it back to health. It was a wonderful pet and I had always wanted one too... also we don't have wild skunks here and you can have them as pets too... I would love to have one but hubby put his foot down and said NO...lol
